The DCIS PTSA has just announced its Spring Fundraiser! Please join them on Friday, April 17 from 6:30-9:00 pm at Elements Massage Highpointe (Hampden & I-25) for an evening of chair, hand & foot massages, wine, cheese and the opportunity to hang out with other DCIS parents. Tickets can be purchased here for $59. 100% of the proceeds will benefit students of DCIS through PTSA grants! Space is limited, so please purchase your tickets early.
Additionally, the PTSA’s fundraiser with Westerra Credit Union continues. Westerra Credit Union has offered to donate to the DCIS PTSA to help us raise funds in a way that not only supports the PTSA, but also gives our students, families and friends incentives to save money by using our local school district credit union. The PTSA gets $52.80 for each student who opens a savings account. Plus, you can get $52.80 for each checking and Visa® account you open – and the PTSA gets $52.80 for each account, too! Just mention the DCIS (at Baker) PTSA when opening these accounts. For more information, contact the PTSA.
The DCIS Prom Committee needs your help! We have an extremely tight budget and need funds to help pay for prom. We are trying to create an amazing night for high school students– and keep tickets affordable. Please consider donating to our fundraising campaign, and thank you for your support.
A team from DCIS took second place in this year’s Aspen Challenge with “Planting Diplomacy.” This year’s team consisted of Imad Rashed, Keegan Smit, Oliver Martinez, Gisselle Ortiz, Katie Foust, Omar Flores, Jack Virnich, and Lebron Li, along with DCIS social studies teacher Aaron Dobberstein. You can read coverage of this year’s Aspen Challenge here, and watch an introductory video (featuring last year’s team, starting at 1:50) here:
Tryouts for Phoenix Girls Middle School Soccer will be held February 24, 26, and 27, 2015. Tryouts are open to all girls, grade 6-8. All interested girls should bring an updated physical to the DCIS main office, or to Coach Gerardo Muñoz in room 123. Girls will not be permitted to try out with a physical.
Also, as the weather is quite unpredictable at that time of year, make sure all girls bring warm clothing in case of cold, both flat shoes and cleats for indoor and outdoor activities, plenty of water, and a ball. Girls should dress appropriately for physical movement.
If you have other questions, please contact Gerardo Munoz at firstname.lastname@example.org, or 720-423-9023.
Conferences will be hosted on February 19th from 4-7 pm. The format this year is designed to provide two options for families to talk to teachers and review student progress:
(1) 4-5 pm = Walk-ins – Families are invited to stop by teachers’ classrooms for informal conversations and general questions. If a teacher is engaged in a conversation, please feel free to take a seat in the hall for the next available walk-in. No prior scheduling is required.
(2) 5-7 pm = Scheduled appointments – Families requiring a more lengthy conversation are encouraged to schedule an appointment for a designated time slot. Times slots are estimated to be 20-minutes each. Please contact the advisement teacher to schedule an appointment.
